Introduced lately, the bronze sack allows you to purchase sets of 1million mesos for 500 NX. This is still in a testing phase while nexon studies its effects on the economy.
GMs consider their attempt to sell mesos legally in game extremely important to fight off meso farmers.

NxJoeW, a mod in nexon forums, wrote:
...unfortunately while some players get to benefit from it [farming], many take a substantial loss. You may lose your account to a powerleveling service, or to a meso farmer. You may loose your map or FM spot and in general you are losing GM time because of all the effort we have had to put into fighting these guys. And, in general, you might just lose your money to another ripoff Meso seller.

Therefore, quantity and level restrictions are being enforced in trades to prevent frauds, scammers, and hackers from abusing the situation. However, as long as players keep buying mesos for nx illegally, "the farmers will keep farming." But any more restrictions on trades and nx would also affect other players who are being victims in both cases.
The new idea is simple. Mesos can be purchased, safe and direct from Nexon.

This is not a good option for business though. For example, normally, if an item worth 3m sells for 1k nx, you only get 2m if you go for the bronze sack. I must say the ratio of nx for mesos introduced with the bronze sack is quite... clever... but if you're just a little fish in this large ocean market, there are still ways to make profit if you're smart enough.

P.S. i give economy lessons 20m per each Razz muahaha

Yes I want your lesson. Then I will write it into books and resale them for 10 mil each but in mass. Laughing

Do you guys realize that FM room 1 has no mesos site spammers? I got into that room and keep thinking I was in room 6 or something. I dont know how Nexon can get rid of them. Did they use a GM and ban all of them when they see them?

I think there are no spammers in the FM because Nexon severely messed with all their files to prevent hacking for a short time. Like always it will come back. Someone just has to care enough.
Nexon was just mad that they didn't have a slice of the "Selling Meso" Market and thought it was about time to get in on it. All Nexon cares about is their wallet size. They never do anything for the "Average player" Don't you see they always have special events for people with NX? It's just annoying since the only NX I get is 2x. >.>

P.S.
That's just my cynical view.

LOLs Tany. In my oppinion, nexon can't but care about all their players, even the non-nx ones, cuz they make up a large portion of the maple community. Most of the "moves" nexon go for take into consideration all factors. MTS is a good example: while they make even more $$, they provide a legal source of nx for people who can't usually get any. And it is totally logical that they seek profit eventually; it's a business afterall. The bronze sack is also a good attempt cuz we're already messed up by 3rd party sellers. So the bad option is still better than the worst Razz.

You have a point. Still, they are only doing it for their own benefit.
The third party Meso selling thing was still legal for other Chinese sweat shops to do.
So essentially, Nexon is evil for trying to CRUSH the competition and make a monopoly of the MESO MARKET!!
What an evil entity! Putting THOUSANDS of Chinese people out of a job! D:

Ummm...if they cared about ALL their players, then WHY DONT THEY HAVE A REAL PQ FOR 3RD JOBBERS?!? PIRATE PQ IS A WASTE OF TIME FOR EXP!

They need to Quit making low level pqs, since it is EASY to get EXP at those levels!!! I am tired of seeing so many ppl get to 3rd job and either start sitting around everywhere chatting with ppl all the time, constantly say 'I'm Bored'...which tends to end up with them making a new char, which will be abandoned at the latest of when it gets to 3rd job (but most likely before that), take a 'Break' from MS or Quit MS. 'I'm Bored' drives me crazy :smiley51: and I miss my friends that have taken a 'Break' or quit MS. Sad

Besides a real pq for 3rd jobbers would give many ppl a chance to do something fun together again. I made many good friends while opqing.

I find it completely logical, strategically, to introduce fast paced pqs at lower levels to encourage newbies, and then slow down the pace for higher levels. It's not impossible though; i reached 4th job w/o 2x *continues to brag and boast about it*, just with enough patience and while focusing on a single character.

I think it would be lame if leveling becomes easier at higher levels. It's good enough already. The challenging part is achieving a decent level despite the difficulties. One will be more happy with a level up after some hard work (instead of just collecting clouds in orbis, clicking together, and yay level up! lolz).

I'm sure nexon is well aware of their leveling pace that they did not assign randomly. I find it clever in how they maintain ingame balance. Also, it is their nonnegotiable right to seek profit from their business and the leveling pace is part of it.

Rose wrote:

Boredom is indeed a problem... as bored people tend to look for someone to blame it on. So far, the majority find maplestory fun considering the constant activity in the market and on the rankings. BUT even the most entertaining show becomes boring if you continue to watch it so many times everyday, AND the problem in this case would not be the show. It's quite ironic how some people stick to the same thing all day then decide it's boring in the end. If those people learn how to balance their daily activities, they would rather enjoy everything they do.

Please explain the logic.

Actually it is the low lvl pqs that put me and Rob in our current position...being too poor to properly train where we (ok, where I) should be. We pqed with our mains from lvl 24ish til 70 (me) or 71 (Rob), with the obvious exception between KPQ and LPQ at that time. Now you can pq from the moment you leave Maple isle until 3rd job, making it even more likely not to have enough funding after 3rd job.

Before you say FM or MTS...some of us abosolutely hate wasting our time in the boring FM...but that is beside the point right now, if you pq til 3rd job once you leave Maple Isle, you will not have anything to sell in the FM or MTS, with the exception being maybe the Necklaces from CPQ.
HPQ ~ low lvl equips (which mostly can be bought or made from an NPC)
KPQ ~ low lvl equips (which mostly can be bought or made from and NPC or can get from quest(s))
Colliseum PQ ~ beach chair...wont be for awhile since it is new, and dont know if you can get a 2nd chair or anything else after the 1st chair
CPQ ~ Necklace
LPQ ~ maybe Nap Capes will start to raise in value now that most ppl CPQ...doubtful...but I dont watch the markets
OPQ ~ nothing...no one does the whole pq anymore...i dont even know what bonus is like...if even a bonus (I am assuming there is one)
LMPQ ~ most likely way of getting any type of funding from pq...but if you want to lvl fast...which most do...then they tend to OPQ. Plus the funding from this PQ isnt the equips, since blood boards and rescue tubes sell for next to nothing now days.

Bilbo wrote:

I did not like OPQ so much because it was easy lvling. I like OPQ because I was able to meet some great friends in OPQ and had the time to talk to them while doing the pq. Ask your sister...I KNOW she understands! (remember a certain guildie from TheDA that expelled her for talking to friends in the pq instead of collecting cloud pieces when she was lvl 70?)

Bilbo wrote:

Most people I know in game dont consider these to be 'fun' aspects of the game, especially the 'Market activity' of the game. They consider other aspects such as character growth (not necessarily the competition against others or the ranking of thier char, but the general growth and new skills/abilities of their char), and the friendships they have created, to be the fun part of MS. That is also why many find it hard to truly Quit MS when it has become boring. They still find themselves logging in to see who is on and to chat with friends.

Alright, here goes: I'll begin with a brief summary to avoid confusion and... for fun lolz:

I started the thread explaining about the new bronze sack and nexon's clever attempt to fight off meso farmers/sellers. Tany then commented that the bronze sack might be only another attempt to harvest more bucks and accused nexon to care only for profit. I made it clear that, since they are not a ministry for social care nor a charity company, it's their complete right to seek profit. But, despite of that, they STILL care for the welfare of their large community; They CAN NOT BUT care because a happier community means better profit.

Next, Rose decided that the lack of means for faster leveling, particulary the lack of an effective 3rd job PQ, indicates carelessness from nexon's side. I stated my opinion on this matter seeing that it's quite logical to slow the pace of leveling after some time for several reasons:

1. Maplestory can survive Longer if less people level quickly. Imagine you can get to 200 or around it in a few months or even one year! Total mess up!
2. The game for the majority is more fun when it is rather challenging than just easy going.
3. Other games might allow you to level up probably ten times a day, but is that as valuable as a single level in maplestory? NO! The sense of achievement that maplestory provides is unique and must be better appreciated.
4. With the slower leveling pace at higher levels, 2x cards became best sellers! Quite ingenious! And again it is their total right to seek profit, and desptite of that, it's still not impossible to reach 120 w/o 2x. (refer to my example above that i keep bragging about Razz)

That said, it's now pick-on-your-guildmate's-every-word time! FUN muahaha:

beside the point? THAT IS the point! FM is not boring (boredom is relative) and the time you spend there is not a waste (waste of time is also relative). If you claim that poverty is the reason why you can't level up, then you owe to give FM another chance. That is, don't blame nexon and accuse them of carelessness if you can't enjoy a major part of the game: FM! Besides, if you really hate FM that much, i believe Rob is high enough to train at spiders. Spiders drop large quantities of mesos and if you collect all, you'll be able to fund pots and even make profit, just from training there as a dk. When i got hacked, a few iblis from spiders brought me back kicking again!

All this was not necessary as i'm quite aware of what each pq awards, but if it's a matter of who creates the longer post, that's alright Razz
Anyways, PQs were never a major source of income (although ur a bit wrong on ludi pq for it can award some good 60% scrolls) but still, if you hate fm, questing is a good and fun way to get some cool items. Some of the showa quests i did recently rewarded godly scrolls like overall int 30% that can sell at 10m now.
OH! and nice hog Rob *winks* that's worth 20m :D

I agree! (yes, reward yourself with a cookie cuz i just agreed with you on something) BUT (oops the BUT part) but frienships and socializings should not hinder your leveling and business. It will be more fun when friends level up together, go on zak runs, go boss hunts and eventually celebrate their achievements!

buahahaha this is one long post f3 try to outdo this one LMAO
i really miss arguing with Rose! we used to have fun and chat a lot in the old days (before they disappeared off their mains >.<) btw don't give up plz, keep arguing so FUN! Razz (but no slapping with pillow or anything plz lolz)

I actually agree with you on this part. They need to make a profit from the game some how...this is not only a way to do that, but it is also a creative attempt to slow down meso farmers/sellers, etc.

Bilbo wrote:

I did not say it was carelessness...I believe you said that they can't but care about ALL players, even non-nx ones. My reply was if they cared about ALL players, then why don't they have a real PQ for 3rd jobbers. (ie. something fun that gives a decent amount of EXP or prize relative to the amount of time and/or money/pots spent on the PQ).

Bilbo wrote:

If that were the case, then why continuously add new pqs to make it even easier than it ever was to lvl quickly?

Bilbo wrote:

That is relative to the individual player.

Bilbo wrote:

I do not think majority of the players on MS expect to level up many times a day at high levels, even with pqs.
Even if they created a new pq for 3rd jobbers, I would not expect to be able to lvl every day.
(I consider OPQ to be an exception to the leveling everyday merely because we, the players, do not do this pq correctly.)
A fun PQ that gives a decent amount of EXP or prize(s) relative to the amount of time and/or money/pots spent on the PQ should not be too much to ask for. And I think the fact that there are hardly any people at the PPQ place, even on channel one, confirms that PPQ is not a 'fun' PQ for the majority.

Bilbo wrote:

no arguement for taking advantage of that new addition to the Cash Shop, that probably has been one of their greatest additions for them to profit off of (will have to see how the bronze sack adds up down the road).

1) relative to me...FM IS BORING Sleep
2) ok, will conceed to the waste of time...IF you know what you are looking for and have the CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF FREE TIME TO SPEND LOOKING FOR IT, the FM may not be a waste of time (this is assuming you do not use nx, ie the owl, since some ppl do not have nx to use).
3) again, did not blame nx for carelessness.
4) as for spiders and any decent drops from any monster...it has been my luck so far as to have bad luck with monster drops. When I was way ahead of Rob after 3rd job, I went to spiders while he was still at oodoos (Rose's Poison Pit of Death, for those that witnessed it). To this date, I have only received 2 equip items from spiders (rest were ores and money). NO Ilbis.
I say monster drops in general, because I have been in a discussion where someone mentioned 60% scrolls for glove attk drop from mateons (the purple little aliens in Omega). Not only have we completed the Antidote quest (I know you are familiar with this quest) at least 4 different times, but we have also killed MANY MANY MANY MORE of those pesky little aliens for other quests, while helping friends complete their quests, and while wasting time in Omega on other occassions. Not once have we ever gotten a scroll of any type to drop.
Many other examples of that type. The only monsters we have received a decent amount of drops from (other than ore and mesos) is oodoos.
I seem to have the 'luck' to get other monster drops, like mesos, ores, the normal monster drops (ie orange cap from orange mushrooms, horns from Jr. Cellions, etc), and quest item drops (like spirits from Cargos and Macis).
That is just the way it goes for me.

That took a LOT of time at oodoos for BOTH of us to get that money, and we were broke again after he FINALLY got it (and the only reason why we got it is so he would quit complaining about stupid mages and their :smiley51: teleport everytime he had to try to keep up with me when we went somewhere).

I know I do not know everyone in MS. I was basing this on all the people I met after joining Aeons and meeting the friends of the many people in Aeons (like Mels and her many friends), the buddy chats from said friends, from the many smegas and FM conversations I have seen, and the conversations I have seen in different forums.
I am not saying that NO ONE enjoys the FM or MTS.
I was meaning the FM and MTS is more of an aspect of the game for generating more mesos than something they truly 'enjoy' in MS.

I agree! (yes, reward yourself with a cookie cuz i just agreed with you on something) BUT (oops the BUT part) but frienships and socializings should not hinder your leveling and business. It will be more fun when friends level up together, go on zak runs, go boss hunts and eventually celebrate their achievements!
again this is relative to the individual player. That depends on what the player wants and/or expects from playing MS.
You should be familiar with many people in Aeons that consider the friendships they have created and the social aspect of MS to be VERY important. Your sister is one of them. How long did she sit in the 70s? She spent alot of that time talking to her friends instead of leveling. She enjoyed that part of MS more at that point in the game than her leveling or business.
As for the last part, you should also be familiar with that situation now too. Do you realize how many people feel left out in Aeons now? The impression I get from them is the guild use to spend alot of time together back when it was first created and when they experiemented and learned GPQ. It was a friendly, social guild to them, no pressures to be at a certain level in a short amount of time or to have a certain amount of money in the 'bank'.
Yes, they were competitive and were successful at becoming #1 ranked in Bello, but they were able to do that as a guild, and it didnt matter too much what lvl you were to attend GPQ on thier Friday night GPQ sessions (I used the term sessions because it wasn't uncommon for them to GPQ for HOURS on Friday night and into Saturday morning and to repeat it all again on Saturday afternoon).
Now that Aeons has moved on to Zakum, there are those that feel left out now, or useless if they are able to attend, because level DOES matter. Plus, they feel that there is more of an emphasis on leveling and business than on being friendly and social, which may account for why the guild chat is basically nothing compared to what is was last year.
There is nothing wrong with either aspect of the game...the friendly/social, and the leveling/business (again relative to the individual player), but it is hard to maintain harmony between both without both acknowledging and hopefully compromising with the other.

{Note: I am not referring to me or Rob ... we are somewhere in between both. We like the social side of MS, which is why we tend to do pqs and quests with friends when they are on, but we also know that we need to continue to grow our chars in order to keep the game interesting and to be able to continue doing quests, bosses, etc with friends.
The comments above are from impressions we have gotten since joining Aeons the first time with our other chars, posts on this web site from various members (known and unknown to us), and from comments from many friends we have made in Aeons}

ummmm...that seemed to take an unexpected turn Suspect

i really miss arguing with Rose! we used to have fun and chat a lot in the old days (before they disappeared off their mains >.<) btw don't give up plz, keep arguing so FUN! Razz (but no slapping with pillow or anything plz lolz)
It is funny you should say this....I hadnt even made it to this point in your post when I started my reply post, and Rob was the one that pointed this part out. I had already made a similar statement to myself and was going to post a similar comment at the end of my post!!!

As to the mains, after 4th of July, we plan on trying to get Serra close enough to SirRAW to start training together. Of course, this depends on if our new computers work they way we are hoping them too, and my work!

Time to start putting Positive Thoughts in my head, so we can start catching up to everyone.

*tickles Dan with a feather from the feather pillow I cant hit him with* Razz
